NEWLY RELEASED BOOK, THE “ESSENTIAL AMERICAN” BY JACKIE GINGRICH CUSHMAN

A note from the author regarding her motivation in writing  the “Essential American”.
I wrote this book because I believe America is exceptional, that’s a
controversial statement. It’s not that we are better than other people, it
is that we have a unique system of self government. These great national
stories remind us of the foundation of our country and how our national
character has been forged.

Some speeches, like General Douglas MacArthur’s immortal “Duty,
Honor, Country” speech or Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, were
obvious selections. Others, like Captain Mosley Baker’s “Remember the
Alamo!” speech, were not.

Some were instantly hailed as great, such as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s
“I Have a Dream” speech, while others like President Ronald Reagan’s
speech at the Brandenburg Gate in West Germany required the passage of
time to unveil their significance.

But all of them, from the Constitution to Theodore Roosevelt’s “A
Strenuous Life” to George W. Bush’s speech after 9/11, inspired me and
reminded me of our country’s timeless principles: self-reliance, loyalty
and the belief that we can do and achieve anything, as our Founding
Fathers proved to us so many years ago.

It also includes a foreword from my father; lists of presidents, first
ladies, vice presidents, and justices of the Supreme Court; a timeline of
important events in American history; and a bonus DVD of more than 1,200
documents.

The “Essential American” is available in all major bookstores as well as
on Amazon,BarnesandNoble.com, and Borders.com. (Its also available in
e-book format as well!)

And with Christmas around the corner, The Essential American is the
perfect gift for the patriot or history buff in your life.

Together we can inspire and remind people just how great America truly is.
