The Democratic Party Changed While We Stayed In Place

By Tyler Durden   December 16, 2024

Authored by Josh Stylman via The Brownstone Institute,

Let me start by saying I loathe politics. I’ve always been drawn to liberal ideas—individual freedom, protecting the vulnerable, questioning authority, and the fundamental belief that consenting adults should be free to live their lives however they choose as long as they’re not harming others. These aren’t political positions to me; they’re basic human principles. But the game of politics itself repulses me. What I’m about to share isn’t about politics; it’s about our shared reality and how we’ve lost touch with it.

The Mindvirus

What’s truly mind-numbing to me is how people don’t see what’s happening right in front of them. The media has devolved into nothing more than a propaganda mouthpiece for the establishment, programming people to react rather than think. I’ve experienced this firsthand: When I drew historical comparisons between vaccine mandates and 1933 Germany’s early authoritarian policies, I was instantly labeled an extremist and cancelled by my NYC community. Yet now, these same people casually call everyone at Trump’s MSG rally Nazis. The irony would be funny if it weren’t so tragic.

My Liberal Foundation

I still believe deeply in core liberal principles:

  • Genuine free speech, not the controlled corporate version we see today
  • Standing against establishment overreach
  • Opposing unchecked corporate power
  • Fighting against unnecessary wars
  • Complete bodily autonomy – your body, your choice, in ALL contexts
  • Defending individual rights consistently, not selectively

These aren’t just political positions—they’re principles about human dignity and freedom.

The Democratic Party’s Transformation

The Democratic Party’s drift from these values didn’t happen overnight. Many of us, exhausted by Bush’s brutal wars, lies about weapons of mass destruction, and the Patriot Act’s assault on civil liberties, invested our hopes in Obama’s promise of change. But instead of the transformation we sought, we got what felt like Bush’s third and fourth terms.

Under Obama, we watched as corporate influence grew stronger, not weaker. The Snowden revelations exposed massive surveillance programs. The housing crisis devastated ordinary Americans while Wall Street got bailouts. Rather than challenging institutional power, the Democratic establishment became increasingly entangled with it.

The betrayal of liberal values became even clearer with Bernie Sanders. Like Trump, Bernie tapped into something real—a deep frustration with a system that had left ordinary Americans behind. Both men, from vastly different perspectives, recognized that working people were suffering while elites prospered. But the Democratic establishment couldn’t allow an actual progressive challenger. They used every trick in the book—from media manipulation to primary shenanigans—to block him from the nomination. Most disappointing was watching Bernie himself bend the knee to the same establishment he had railed against, leaving millions of supporters feeling betrayed and politically homeless.

BIDEN QUIETLY EXTENDS COVID 19 EMERGENCY DECLARATION

Biden Regime Quietly Extends COVID-19 ‘Emergency Declaration’ to Shield Big Pharma and mRNA Vaccine Makers from Liability Until 2029

By Jim Hᴏft  Dec. 11, 2024
EXCERPT FROM THIS ARTICLE:  While the Biden administration insists the extension is a precaution for “future public health emergencies,” critics argue it reeks of cronyism and corruption, benefiting pharmaceutical giants while sidelining the American public’s growing concerns about vaccine injuries and accountability……By extending this declaration, Biden’s Health and Human Services Department locks in protections for companies producing COVID-19 vaccines, ensuring their profits remain unscathed regardless of adverse effects or public outcry.

NAOMI WOLF -STAUNCH DEMS CONTINUE TO JUMP SHIP

Feminist icon who worked with Clinton and Gore jumps ship, endorses Trump: ‘Biden-Harris suppressed my voice’

Joseph MacKinnon Blaze Media   October 31, 2024

Longtime Democrat Naomi Wolf has thrown in her lot with those Biden has called ‘garbage.’

Feminist icon and best-selling author Naomi Wolf has thrown her support behind President Donald Trump, joining the likes of Lt. Col. Tulsi GabbardRobert F. Kennedy Jr.Teamsters boss Sean O’Brien, and the multitudes of other longtime Democrats who have grown disenchanted with a party now unrecognizable under its current management.

“Naomi Wolf here. NYS. Never in a million years did I think I’d vote for Donald Trump but the folks for whom I voted, censored me illegally via Big Tech, killed thousands of people via FDA lies and put the guy who tried to help me save American lives, in prison,” Wolf wrote in a Sunday X post, days before President Joe Biden called all Trump supporters “garbage”.

“At a certain point you can’t support the fascists,” added Wolf.

Wolf was long a darling of the left — a Democratic insider celebrated as a key proponent of third-wave feminism who advised the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton and Al Gore, took up the cause of the populist Occupy Wall Street demonstrators in 2011, and donned a “p***y hat” with other Trump critics in 2017.

In recent years, however, the liberal establishment began attacking Wolf as it became increasingly clear she was unwilling to toe the party line.

Leftists lashed out at Wolf when, for instance, she criticized the experimental mRNA vaccines foisted upon the American population, earning a ban on pre-Musk Twitter; when she underwent firearms training, which she indicated was “empowering”; when she discussed the Bible with Tucker Carlson around the time her former Democrat allies were working to censor him; and when she emphasized that abortion is always a “tragedy.”

Following his release from prison Tuesday, Stephen K. Bannon spoke to Wolf on his “War Room” show about her Trump endorsement.

“Did you actually endorse President Trump?” asked Bannon.

‘In person, he’s very different from the caricature.’

“This is a hard thing for me to do, but yes I did. I’m saying it. It’s public. Yes I did,” said Wolf. “I posted it and I sent it to you in prison, my tweet or my X post, saying at a certain point, you have to stop supporting the fascists. The people I voted for silenced my voice. They killed thousands of people and they put the man who helped me try to save the lives of thousands of people in prison.”

“At a certain point, you just have to stand up for what’s right,” added Wolf.

A number of my good friends and family have been surprised about my decision to support

for president. They have been surprised because my political giving history has been mostly to Democrats, my voting registration has typically been Democrat (in NY, you must be registered to the party in order to vote in the primary, and usually the Republican candidate has no chance to win), and many of our philanthropic initiatives have supported issues that are consistent with Democratic priorities. All of the above said, I have always considered myself to be a centrist and/or moderate, and I have voted for the candidate and supported the issues and policies that I believe are in the best interest of the country. Some have accused me of supporting Trump because doing so will somehow benefit me financially. Fortunately, I do not need any financial benefits as I and my family have well more than we need. I have also committed to give away the substantial majority of my resources at or by the time I am no longer, so I don’t consider personal financial benefits in the determination of whom I support for office. Some have suggested that I am supporting Trump because I am seeking a position in his administration. To be clear, I haven’t been offered one and I wouldn’t take a job in the administration (I love my job and it is the wrong time in my life to work in an administration). I will, however, do everything else I can to help the president succeed in helping our country and its citizens. All of the above said, I am an investor who manages funds that own some of the best, principally American, businesses in the world. In a better governed and managed America, these business will do better and increase in value faster. One might therefore argue that being ‘long’ America is somehow a conflict, so I thought to disclose this potential ‘conflict’ here. Some of my friends and family who support

are ok with my supporting Trump, but don’t want me to attempt to convince others to support him. Because I strongly believe that a Trump administration will be better for the country and the world than a Harris administration, I think it is important to share my thinking to the extent it helps others come to the right conclusion. Three months ago, when I endorsed Trump on the day of the first assassination attempt, I promised to share my thinking about why I came to this conclusion in a future more detailed post. I intend to do so in possibly more than one post, with the first, this one, explaining the actions and policies of the Biden/Harris administration and Democratic Party that were the catalysts for my losing total confidence in the administration and the Party. To be clear, my decision to vote for Trump is not an endorsement of everything he has done or will do because he is an imperfect man. Unlike a marriage or a business partnership where there are effectively unlimited alternatives, in this election, we have only two viable choices. Of the two, I believe that Trump is by far the superior candidate despite his flaws and mistakes he has made in the past. As always, I welcome your feedback on how I could be wrong and on how the below actions and policies I outline below might actually have been good for America. I have always believed that the best way to get to the truth is to hear the best arguments on all sides of an issue. While the 33 actions I describe below are those of the Democratic Party and the Biden/Harris administration, they are also the actions and policies that unfortunately our most aggressive adversaries would likely implement if they wanted to destroy America from within, and had the ability to take control of our leadership. These are the 33: (1) open the borders to millions of immigrants who were not screened for their risk to the country, dumping them into communities where the new immigrants overwhelm existing communities and the infrastructure to support the new entrants, at the expense of the historic residents,

(2) introduce economic policies and massively increase spending without regard to their impact on inflation and the consequences for low-income Americans and the increase in our deficit and national debt,
(3) withdraw from Afghanistan, abandoning our local partners and the civilians who worked alongside us in an unprepared, overnight withdrawal that led to American casualties and destroyed the lives of Afghani women and girls for generations, against the strong advice of our military leadership, and thereafter not showing appropriate respect for their loss at a memorial ceremony in their honor,
(4) introduce thousands of new and unnecessary regulations in light of the existing regulatory regime that interfere with our businesses’ ability to compete, restraining the development of desperately needed housing, infrastructure, and energy production with the associated inflationary effects,
(5) modify the bail system so that violent criminals are released without bail,

Covid Relief Money Paid for a Water Park and Luxury Hotels

The Danville Aquatic Center in Central Illinois cost $13 million, courtesy of the federal taxpayer.

If you were looking for a family-friendly escape from the heat this summer, you should have checked out the new aquatic center in Danville, Ill. While the Central Illinois town may not ring a bell, what should catch your attention is that you helped pay for Danville’s splashy venture—thanks to a cool $13 million injection from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

While facilities like the Danville Aquatic Center will likely provide enjoyment for area residents for years, such expenses aren’t a smart use of federal taxpayer dollars, especially considering that the funds that built the new water park were intended for Covid-19 recovery efforts. Unfortunately, this questionable expenditure represents a small fraction of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.

The law also allocates $350 billion specifically for emergency funding to state, local and tribal governments. This particular pool of money has bankrolled many projects like the Danville Aquatic Center. It’s a spending spree that should upset all taxpayers, as such projects demonstrate a complete lack of oversight and blatant misuse of funds intended to accelerate the nation’s economic rebound.

Danville, population 28,000, is far from alone in this trend of inefficient spending. Across the country, American Rescue Plan funds have been used in questionable ways. In New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy spent $15 million on promotional efforts to attract soccer’s 2026 World Cup to the state. Maine used $20 million to modernize fish hatcheries, while North Carolina dedicated $5 million for the development of moonshine walking trails. Arizona spent $7 million to boost horse racing. New York paid $2 million to plant 3,600 trees. And Broward County, Fla., commissioners doled out more than $140 million to build a 29-story luxury hotel.
