2012 – THE NEXT STEP BEGINS

IN 2012 WE SOLIDIFY THE GAINS ACHIEVED IN 2010

November 2, 2010 was an historic day for the Republican party nationally and statewide here in North Carolina. A big thanks to all the candidates and a special congratulations to the winners. Gaining control of the North Carolina legislative body after more than a century is the crowning achievement of a lot of hard work by thousands of people, and the determined efforts of state Republican Chairman Tom Fetzer, NC House leader Skip Stam, NC Senate Leader Phil Berger, and dozens of Country Chairs like Claude Pope in Wake Country, or Bill Knight in Orange County.

Of course, without volunteers who offer their labor and donors who offer their treasure campaigns are nothing, so we should all be thankful for their contributions to the successful outcome as well.

At the national level, regaining control of the House and narrowing the Democrat majority control in the Senate should go a long way in disrupting the agenda that Obama, Pelosi, and Reid had in mind for the next two years. As great as was the electoral success this past Tuesday, Republicans do not yet enjoy a veto proof majority. The task we have undertaken to first arrest any further moves down the socialist path the Left has put us upon, and then to get on with restoring America back to her maximum sustainable strength and prosperity, will take more than two years.

In 2012, we must reinforce the conservative troops we are sending to DC in 2010 to assure we complete the task.

Potential candidates, volunteers, and donors all need and deserve to take a short breather and enjoy the success of their efforts in 2010. However, it won’t be much longer before we will have to reengage the debate on the challenges we face as a country and push the conservative solutions to manage those challenges.

Here in North Carolina, the prospect of redistricting has been an important motivating force for Republicans set upon taking back control of the state legislature. With Republicans gaining control, redistricting will occur, and therefore the political landscape will be uncertain for some time to come. It’s an important process and will likely result in districts that will be viewed as more friendly from the Republican perspective.

For those of us intent on gaining federal office in DC in order to assure the needed policies are enacted to counter 40 years of expanding government directed by liberal ideology, the path will be unclear for some months to come. Even so, it’s not too early to lay the groundwork, define the problems, explain the solutions, and become more well known and understood within the community.

While not achieving victory in May 2010, my campaign for US Congress in the 4Th District was a huge success on many fronts. I raised a near record amount of money for a 4Th district Republican primary, I met and spoke with hundreds of wonderful Americans, had a chance to work closely with motivated and dedicated people across the district, and contributed to the national debate on important issues.

A strong base has been established, and I intend to build on that base starting in the few months ahead.

We are an amazing nation. We have much to be proud of. We have much to be optimistic about. Yet we know we’re on the wrong path right now, and have been for many years. The problems that confront us are self-inflicted…man-made. With the right people in positions of power we can right ourselves and continue on leading the world as the nation with the greatest socio-economic/political/defensive military system ever established.

The people we need must have the courage to confront our problems head on and to say so in public, clearly and directly, making it understood there is a price some of us will have to pay in order to solve our fiscal problems related to deficits, debts, and the constraints of the US Constitution. The people we need must have the proper training, knowledge, and understanding of the complex economic issues related to the tax and spend policies of Congress (fiscal policy), and interest rate, money supply, and banking supervision policies of the Federal Reserve (monetary policy).

It’s no longer enough to speak in generalities and say we stand for “jobs, lower taxes, and smaller government.” We must speak about specific solutions to specific problems.

We don’t need to be motivated by fear. We don’t need to first collapse as a nation to restore ourselves. We don’t need to turn to violence. We don’t need to turn to inevitability.

We are citizens of the United States of America. We don’t give up. We persevere. We get up and go to work. We hold onto optimism. We will eventually put the right people in place to do the right things.

2012 is the NEXT STEP. Think Frank Roche. Time to get started.

I’m available to speak at Clubs and auxiliaries, meet & greets at private residences, and other public events. For the next several months I’ll be blogging regularly at therocherecord.com, and communicating via facebook and twitter.

I look forward to seeing and speaking with you again in the days ahead.
