COLOR US UNITED – UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA MEDICAL SCHOOL
It is of utmost importance for our medical schools to be color blind when training our future doctors. Nancy
Our UNC Campaign is Heating Up
Last Thursday the UNC Board of Governors voted to ban DEI statements in admission or employment. While we can’t take full credit for this, Color Us United facilitated media coverage of this decision. The UNC Ban on DEI is just one step toward our major goal.
Our goal is to get UNC Medical School Dean Burks to admit that DEI is harming the school’s ability to provide the highest quality of medical care — and may even be jeopardizing health care. A statement exposing the problems caused by DEI is much more powerful than a ban from “above.” Once we get one Dean to admit to the failures of DEI, others will be encouraged to speak out about the problems DEI is causing on their campuses.
To this end, we brought Dr. Nche Zama to North Carolina to share his story about what it takes to be a world-renowned doctor and why DEI is antithetical to high-quality healthcare. Dr. Nche Zama is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon trained at Harvard Medical School and a published author.
“UNC should spend more time supporting its medical community.”- Dr. Zama
I encourage you to watch his stunning speech, here.
The Daily Mail also reported on our UNC Medical Campaign:
“Its most recent initiative is a bid to stop the UNC School of Medicine from implementing social justice into its teaching – which the school is attempting to do via a task force that gave recommendations in 2020 that is taking advisement from the Association of American Medical Colleges.”
News and Observer article
As I stated in my Daily Wire piece:
“DEI is an extremely dangerous ideology that threatens to label institutions as racist unless they comply with outrageous demands made by DEI officers”
UNC-Chapel Hill also announced its plans to open a new school dedicated to free speech and challenging the DEI narrative that America is a racist country.
WSJ Article
All this is momentum in the right direction: abolishing DEI from curricula in schools and returning to a merit-based society.
Many of you have shown your support by signing our UNC petition. Yet, we need many more signatures if UNC Dean Burks is to understand the widespread opposition to DEI. Please sign the petition, your voice is essential.
Because of the support that you have given to this issue, Color Us United can continue to empower Americans like you who reject the false promise of DEI. We enable all to call for a return to America’s desire for a race-blind society and opportunity for all.
Best,
Kenny Xu
