BROWNSTONE INSTITUTE

The Brownstone Institute is an excellent source for in depth information on many issues that we are confronted with today.   Nancy

What the research shows on how to get well.

This past week, the shift on Covid restrictions became obvious, with more politicians rolling them back and the offending bureaucrats quietly exiting the scene. It had to happen at some point. Still, to watch it unfold as so many foretold, with a gradual recognition that the Great Barrington Declaration was correct all along, it quite the sight.

Here are some pieces that Brownstone Institute has published this week. We are gearing up for a big expansion of our operations to take us into the next phase: that of recovery and rebuilding. If you would like to support our work, please know of our gratitude.

Early Outpatient Treatment for COVID-19: The Evidence BY PAUL ELIAS ALEXANDER. The evidence accumulated very early on in the pandemic that the use of sequenced multi-drug therapeutics (SMDT) under physician guidance was beneficial and that some medications were safe and effective. We refer to repurposed therapeutics that have been regulatory approved and have been used in some instances for decades for other illnesses.

Why Is the Supreme Court Disregarding Individual Rights? BY TOBY ROGERS. The justices on the Supreme Court (and lots of elected officials) claim that they could not possibly decide weighty scientific matters and then they punt to people who know even less than them (corrupt bureaucrats or Special Masters) — entirely bypassing the system set up by our founders — ordinary citizens, on juries, using common sense and reason.

Is Natural Immunity a Case of Lost Knowledge? BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. If anything has demonstrated that Rothbard was correct about the fallacy of the Whig theory, and the capacity of humanity suddenly to act and total ignorance of what was once widely known, it is these last two years of folly.

Domestic Flight Vaccine Mandates: Where Is the Data? BY EILEEN NATUZZI. Bloomberg, a business news agency, without data to support its claims, is calling for airlines to police domestic flight vaccination status and possibly, unnecessarily, negatively, impact their business in order to get more people vaccinated. To what end?

Military-Aged Males and Booster Shots: Why the Concern BY WILLY FORSYTH. Most young, healthy, vaccinated military members have a probability so close to zero of having negative outcomes from Covid that there is no feasible reason to consider a booster. Even Dr. Paul Offit, one of the biggest advocates of vaccines, recently advised his 20-something son – an age range about 20% of the military falls into – that he has no need of a Covid booster shot.

Rebellion: Lessons from Australia BY GIGI FOSTER, PAUL FRIJTERS, MICHAEL BAKER. Australian politicians are effectively showing us what good students of history they are. They have hanged a rebel leader, adopted his slogans, and quietly given in to some of the rebellion’s demands.

A Litany of Absurdity BY BROWNSTONE INSTITUTE.  With the UK set to be one of the first countries to come out of the pandemic, I thought it was worth starting to compile a list of the most lunatic measures. Lest we forget.

The Obedient Generation BY CLAYTON FOX. As I watched the teenagers of E.T. flying past the sun, I wept for their bravery, and their fraternity, but I also wept for you, my shiny young neighbors. We, this nation, have raised you obeisant. The generation that “turned on, tuned in, and dropped out” (and the slightly younger punks) raised you with none of their same rebelliousness, nor with the faith and humility of their parents. So what did they give you instead? Obey, and you’ll be rewarded.

The Joker: A Premonition BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. The Joker is not just one man, not just a crazy person, but the instantiation of the insane and morbid dangers associated with persistent personal failure backed by a conviction that when there is a fundamental conflict between a vision and reality, it can only be solved by the creation of chaos and suffering. As unpleasant as it is, The Joker is the movie we needed to see to understand and then prepare for the horrors that this unchecked mentality can and did unleash on the world.

A Partial List of the Myriad Abuses That Facemasks Inflict on Our Children BY AARON HERTZBERG. Facemasks are a radical and unnatural impingement on normal physical, mental and emotional functioning. Over time, this can change your personality – such as making you less social, less outgoing, more suspicious, decreased tendency or desire to be kind and so on.

Mandates Are About Political Control, Not Health BY JENIN YOUNES. Mandates that serve no legitimate public health purpose and are instituted merely to punish the noncompliant should have no place in a civilized or democratic society. It is time that Americans wake up and realize that they are being used as pawns in a game of politics.

Five Ways That People Refused to be Fooled by Lockdown Madness BY PAUL FRIJTERS, GIGI FOSTER, MICHAEL BAKER. Various kinds of people stood apart from the herd at the outset, while some escaped it after it formed. Here we try to describe the main pathways to escape from the madness. We do this only partly out of intellectual curiosity: such an exercise also provides clues as to which of those still in thrall to lockdown orthodoxy might be close to liberating themselves, and what is needed to complete their unshackling.

The Government’s “Religious Exemption” Process Is a Farce BY ALAN BROWN. Whether deliberate or not, the language in the new request form reveals the government’s impatience and hostility towards those who have religious objections to the COVID vaccine. Words mean things after all, and the message could not be clearer:  those asking for a religious exemption belong in the “other” category.

Left and Right Have Lost All Meaning BY DAVID SOUTO ALCALDE.  It is clear that the labels of left and right have lost any meaning they had in the time of analog technologies when human beings actually controlled newly invented tools and used them to achieve concrete political and social ends.

The Shortage of Health Care Workers Has a Cause BY EILEEN NATUZZI.  Does a vaccinated health care worker prevent transmission? Current data with the omicron variant does not support this.

The Monumental Sacrifice of Novak Djokovic BY STACEY RUDIN. His very public deportation will hopefully get many people thinking about his approach to health, which if widely understood and adopted, will finally burn the Covid Regime to the ground — once and for all.

The Artless Partisans of Lockdowns and Mandates BY MICHAEL RICHES. In fact, the great intellectual thought emerging from our times is coming from those opposing vaccine mandates and Covid fearmongering. These names run across the political spectrum, but those from the left are universally categorized by liberals as being “alt-right” or “fringe libertarian,” ensuring that they remain marginalized and carry whatever stigma goes along with being relegated to the internet.

What Might Have Been: Calm, Protection, and Care BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. Figuring out why sound public-health practice was rejected in favor of lockdowns is the job of writers and researchers for many years to come. But this much we know already. We had the information we needed to rationally address this threat. We had the experience and knowledge we needed to approach this responsibly and scientifically. A very small group of people on both sides of the Atlantic chose a different path.

Is This Our World War I? BY JESSE KAUFFMAN.  While many historical analogies have been offered for our present moment, from the campaign to combat polio to the National Socialist dictatorship of Germany, it is perhaps this wholly unnecessary self-destruction of a civilization that our own era most readily resembles. The campaign by our government to prevent every possible infection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus regardless of the cost has unleashed a hollowing of once trusted institutions and ideas.

Another Round of Lockdowns in China BY JOHN MAC GHLIONN.  What’s occurring in China is brutal, but it’s not necessarily surprising. In many ways, the Chinese people have always been prisoners, regularly subjected to cruel and unusual punishments. Now, though, the people of Xi’an are literal prisoners, quite literally sealed off from society. When will they be freed? A week from now, a month, a year? Sadly, we don’t know.

No One Could Have Known? BY THOMAS HARRINGTON. Events in recent days seem to suggest that the managers of the Covid narrative are attempting to effect a back-door climbdown of numerous of its longstanding articles of faith.

An Open Letter to the President and Provost of the University of Chicago: Save Our School BY RACHEL FULTON BROWN.  Now is the time. Now is the time for US, the University of Chicago, to stand out. Or be buried in the avalanche of lawsuits that is surely coming.

The Antisocialization of Our Nation BY MEGAN MANSELL. We antisocialized ourselves, fully withdrew from random commingling, and in a way filtered ourselves from society. Life lost its luster when expected to test or inoculate oneself with something with no longitudinal safety assessments in order to live a life anything close to what we once took for granted.
