WEB SITES FOR INFORMATION ON BUYING AND STORING BASICS FOR NATIONAL EMERGENCIES

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

The following information is being provided to those of you who are interested in establishing a stockpile of basic materials in the event of a national emergency:

read here first:
providentliving.org/channel/0,11677,1706-1,00.html
This website has good basic information about how to get started, water storage and purification guidelines (extremely important), product recommendations on what to store for long term storage and what to watch out for to keep your food safe.

this website takes it a step further with details on organizing and rotating food storage and obtaining emergency supplies without becoming overwhelmed

www.suite101.com/content/an-lds-guide-to-beginning-food-storage-a97822

You Can’t just buy a bunch of sugar, oats and flour and store it in your basement for years, expecting to be able to survive on it. It is important to realize that you DON”T want to spend a bunch of money on some recommended bulk plan (by companies trying to get your business), especially if you aren’t familiar with the food or don’t know how to use it.  food needs to be rotated and, in stressful times, you need to be able to access familiar foods.

this website contains more in depth articles on the why and how of food storage, including lots of lists (72-hour and car emergency kits are good places to start), calculators to figure out how much to store, recipes on how to use long-term stored food, and other articles on self reliance:lds.about.com/od/preparednessfoodstorage/Food_Storage_and_Emergency_Preparedness.htm

THE best source for buying long term bulk food is Walton Feed. lds.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=lds&cdn=religion&tm=867&f=10&tt=14&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.waltonfeed.com/ if you have the money on hand and want to buy large quantities at once, this is the place to go.

THE ROCHE RECORD

LIBERTARIANS, GOLD BUGS, EXPORT COUNTRIES CONDEM FED ACTIONS

An article was recently forwarded to me by a friend, who like many of us, is concerned about the state of our economy today, and increasingly alarmed by the rhetoric coming from the media, Libertarians, gold standard advocates, and countries dependent on exports to the US.

The article was written by two members of the American Principles Project, an advocacy group for Liberty out of Washington, DC.

Having read the article a few times and visited the website, I’m guessing both authors would be content to be labeled Libertarian.  Conservatives and Libertarians share much of the same ideology, which is wonderful.  However, when it comes to economics the two groups diverge.  The article, “It’s the Money, Stupid,” written by Jeffrey Bell and Sean Filier, reveals the differences.

Libertarians have attached themselves to a failed economic school of thought, the Austrian School.  They’ll be quick to quote either Ludwig Mises or Friedrich Hayek in explaining themselves.  From this starting point, most of what Libertarians have been taught to believe about monetary policy and the role of the Federal Reserve System (Fed), or the international gold standard and “fiat” currencies are misguided.  In this area, Libertarians are much like Conservatives; they are trying to conserve something from years gone by.  The Austrian school is an economic philosophy that hasn’t kept pace with the establishment of a mature complex economy that is the United States, and for that matter, much of the rest of the world.

The article took a familiar path: the Fed is unconstitutional, poorly managed and must go.  Conservatives enable the Fed out of shortsightedness and poor understanding of monetary policy.  And, only paper money backed up by a piece of gold rock found below the surface of the earth is money of value.    (more…)

GEORGE SOROS BACKGROUND INFO FOR GLENN BECK’S PROGRAM ON NOVEMBER 9, 2010

The Glenn Beck TV Background Guide to George Soros
Posted on November 9, 2010 by Jonathon M. Seidl

Editor’s note: The following outline was obtained by The Blaze from Glenn Beck’s TV team. It is the background document they used to produce Tuesday night’s George Soros expose. It has been edited for form but not content:

BACKGROUND

“Messianic Fantasies”

“It is sort of a disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out,” (The Independent, June 3, 1993)
“I admit that I have always harbored an exaggerated view of self-importance –to put it bluntly, I fancied myself as some kind of god or an economic reformer like Keynes or, even better, a scientist like Einstein,” (The Alchemy of Finance, George Soros)
According to friend Byron Wien (now with the Blackstone Group), “You must understand he thinks he’s been anointed by God to solve insoluble problems. The proof is that he has been so successful at making so much. He therefore thinks he has a responsibility to give money away,” (Time Magazine, Sept 1, 1997)
“If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood which I felt I had to control, otherwise I might end up in the loony bin. But when I made my way in the world I wanted to indulge myself in my fantasies to the extent that I could afford.”

The Soros empire

Billionaire megalomaniac undermines American values

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner

The Washington Times

George Soros is back. The leftist billionaire wrote a column this week calling for the legalization of marijuana. In the Wall Street Journal’s op-ed pages, Mr. Soros supports California’s Proposition 19, the ballot initiative that would legalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana and its domestic cultivation.

Proposition 19 is a major step toward Mr. Soros’ ultimate goal: the legalization of almost all hard drugs – including cocaine and heroin. This is a cause Mr. Soros has pushed – and bankrolled – for decades. It would take America closer to his vision of a European-style permissive social democracy.

The prevalence of drugs threatens the very fabric of our society, destroying the lives (and brains) of millions of Americans. It also fosters child abuse, domestic violence, crime, illegitimacy, AIDS and social breakdown. It is a public scourge whose use should not be encouraged or legally sanctioned, but eradicated. Restoring Honor Rally Changes Hearts and Minds

by The Central Texas 9-12 Project

Saturday, August 28, 2010, my husband, two daughters, and I attended the Restoring Honor rally in Washington D.C. It was a wonderful experience for us all. The crowd was huge (500,000 + people), very peaceful, and individuals were kind and patient. You might think that the important part of the weekend was the three and a half hours (or more) that we spent together during the rally. When I was sitting under the bright, hot sun with my friends from Texas, I thought so too. But I was wrong…

    DC Rally

During the first leg of our trip from D.C. to Chicago, our two daughters, ages 22 and 16, sat next to an African-American gentleman wearing an Obama inauguration t-shirt. After take-off, he mentioned to them that he had travelled to D.C. to attend Al Sharpton’s Reclaim the Dream rally. Our older daughter told him that they were in D.C. for the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor rally, and the conversation took off from there. (more…)

    AN ARMY OF POLITE AMERICANS!

    Glenn Beck’s Happy Warriors

You probably couldn’t have found a more polite crowd at the opera.

      By JAMES FREEMAN

      Washington, D.C.

Pundits will debate whether the crowd at Glenn Beck’s Saturday rally in Washington was the largest in recent political history, but it was certainly among the most impressive.

Mr. Beck is a television host and radio broadcaster with a checkered past and a penchant for incendiary remarks. But if he’s judged by the quality of people of all colors that he attracted to the Lincoln Memorial, his stock can’t help but rise.

One would not be able to find a more polite crowd at a political convention, certainly not at a professional sporting event, probably not even at an opera. In fact, judging by the behavior of the attendees following the event, you’d have a tough time finding churches in which people display more patience as others make their way to the exits. (more…)

THE SOURCE OF THE ‘TEA PARTY’

The Two Faces of the Tea Party

Rick Santelli, Glenn Beck, and the future of the populist insurgency.

      BY Matthew Continetti

      June 28, 2010, Vol. 15, No. 39

As a student in the exciting new field of Tea Party Studies, I’ve noticed that no one agrees on what the Tea Party actually is. Is the anti-Obama, anti-big government movement simply AstroTurf fabricated by Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks? Is it a bunch of Birthers, Birchers, conspiracists, and white power misfits? Is it a strictly economic phenomenon—the inevitable result of high and persistent unemployment? Or are the Tea Partiers nothing more than indulgent Boomers who combine 1960s social libertarianism with 1980s laissez-faire economics? Does the Tea Party draw on longstanding American constitutional, political, and economic traditions, eddies of thought that one can trace back to James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson? Or is it of a more recent vintage: Are the Tea Partiers simply the same folks who once were called Reagan Democrats and Perotistas?

All of the above. There is no single “Tea Party.” The name is an umbrella that encompasses many different groups. Under this umbrella, you’ll find everyone from the woolly fringe to Ron Paul supporters, from Americans for Prosperity to religious conservatives, independents, and citizens who never have been active in politics before. The umbrella is gigantic. But there are discernible ribs that extend outward from its central post, and points of shared concern that support the overall structure.

First, the Tea Party is unified by the pervasive sense that the country is wildly off course. It believes the establishment has bent and twisted the rules for its own benefit. America, the Tea Partiers believe, is headed for a fiscal reckoning unlike any it has ever seen. (more…)
