VICTOR DAVIS HANSON -THE LEFT WERE THE MAD SCIENTISTS – WE WERE THEIR LAB RATS

RE: THE LEFT / VICTOR DAVIS HANSON / NOVEMBER 3, 2022

The Left Were the Mad Scientists — We Were Their Lab Rats

The only thing that will stop their mad experimentation is that they have run out of us.

As the midterms approach, one way of looking at America’s current disaster is that we, the American people, were lab rats. And since 2021, the Left were the mad scientists, eager to try out their crackpot leftist experiments on us.

The result is that the housing market is tottering on the verge of collapse.

As interest rates soar, our $31 trillion national debt crowds out everything else in the budget.

Inflation roars at a rate of 8-9 percent per annum, higher than at any time in 40 years. Yet the prices of the stuff of life — food, fuel, shelter, energy — are far steeper still than the official rate.

No one is safe from thugs anymore — whether a commuter on a New York subway or the Pelosis in Pacific Heights.

The country reportedly has a 25-day supply of diesel fuel — the energy source that runs the nation. Meanwhile, we keep draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve of oil, a commodity we have in abundance but refuse to produce fully.

THE GIANT MANMADE CLIMATE CHANGE LIE

Five “Climate Change” Smoking Guns – Reasons Why “Manmade Climate Change” is a Lie

By Joe Hoft   October 11, 2022

Since the COVID-19 scam has been revealed as the prelude to the Great Reset, many people now realize the extent to which science has been corrupted to serve the interest of politicians. This includes climate “science”.

You’ve probably already guessed that the earth is not heating up. But you may not know these facts, any one of which would totally disprove the false global warming hypothesis (unproven theory). Here are five. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

1. CLIMATEGATE.

In 2009 1,079 emails between climate scientists at the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) in the United Kingdom and others working with them, were leaked. This small group of scientists had been the most influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming. Their emails proved that they were engaged in unethical practices, such as tampering with data and keeping scientists who disagreed with them out of the peer review system.

These leaked email documents revealed discussions between these men about how they could manipulate data to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period, which extended from about 950 AD to 1250 AD. They revealed that this group also considered tactics to prevent the release of the data on which the IPCC’s conclusions were based: data requested by other scientists under Freedom of Information (FOI) laws. In Britain, failure to release FOI-requested data is a criminal offense. Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit, claimed to have lost large chunks of this data.

Two years later, in 2011, 5000 more emails were leaked, in what is now called Climategate II. These were even more startling and incriminating than the 1,079 released in 2009. Myron Ebell commented, “If there were any doubts remaining after reading the first Climategate emails, the new batch of emails that appeared on the web today [November 22] make it clear that the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is an organized conspiracy dedicated to tricking the world into believing that global warming is a crisis that requires a drastic response.”

This, in itself, should have been the end of the global warming fiasco. Unfortunately, it was all covered up.

2. CARBON DIOXIDE IS INCORRECTLY DEPICTED AS THE MAIN “GREENHOUSE GAS.”

VIDEO – ESG’S EXPOSED

Saturday, September 24th, 2022

Heads up everyone!  This is quite an eye opener of how dangerous ESG’s are to our country.  The treasurer of West Virginia, Riley Moore, explains why.   ESG’s (Environmental, Social and Governance) will reach into many aspects of our lives, including our investment accounts.     Nancy

VIDEO

“So, there’s a big game kind of going on here, but they’re making a killing off of these ESG products. And why are they able to do that? Well, they’re charging you a little bit more to make you feel better and you’re doing something about the environment. … But they’re raking it in.”

ESG stands for “environmental, social, and governance”: a collection of corporate performance criteria that exist outside of fiduciary responsibility. Money managers such as BlackRock, arguably ESG’s biggest champion, are increasingly using them to determine investment. Riley Moore, treasurer of the state of West Virginia, sees ESG as a destructive force. He is leading a movement of state governments that are terminating contracts with companies that adopt ESG policies, and blocking them from bidding on them.

“For us here in West Virginia, it is something that would ultimately destroy our economy, our people, and our way of life,” Moore says.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES – WHY SO FEW PEOPLE WANT ONE

Sunday, September 11th, 2022

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Policies Pushing Electric Vehicles Show Why Few People Want One

They wouldn’t need huge subsidies to sell if they really were a good choice, and consumers know that.

by Bjorn Lomborg  Mr. Lomborg is president of the Copenhagen Consensus, a visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and author of “False Alarm: How Climate Change Panic Costs Us Trillions, Hurts the Poor, and Fails to Fix the Planet.” September 9, 2022

We constantly hear that electric cars are the future—cleaner, cheaper and better. But if they’re so good, why does California need to ban gasoline-powered cars? Why does the world spend $30 billion a year subsidizing electric ones?

In reality, electric cars are only sometimes and somewhat better than the alternatives, they’re often much costlier, and they aren’t necessarily all that much cleaner. Over its lifetime, an electric car does emit less CO2 than a gasoline car, but the difference can range considerably depending on how the electricity is generated. Making batteries for electric cars also requires a massive amount of energy, mostly from burning coal in China. Add it all up and the International Energy Agency estimates that an electric car emits a little less than half as much CO2 as a gasoline-powered one.

The climate effect of our electric-car efforts in the 2020s will be trivial. If every country achieved its stated ambitious electric-vehicle targets by 2030, the world would save 231 million tons of CO2 emissions. Plugging these savings into the standard United Nations Climate Panel model, that comes to a reduction of 0.0002 degree Fahrenheit by the end of the century.

Electric cars’ impact on air pollution isn’t as straightforward as you might think. The vehicles themselves pollute only slightly less than a gasoline car because their massive batteries and consequent weight leads to more particulate pollution from greater wear on brakes, tires and roads. On top of that, the additional electricity they require can throw up large amounts of air pollution depending on how it’s generated. One recent study found that electric cars put out more of the most dangerous particulate air pollution than gasoline-powered cars in 70% of U.S. states. An American Economic Association study found that rather than lowering air pollution, on average each additional electric car in the U.S. causes additional air-pollution damage worth $1,100 over its lifetime.

The minerals required for those batteries also present an ethical problem, as many are mined in areas with dismal human-rights records. Most cobalt, for instance, is dug out in Congo, where child labor is not uncommon, specifically in mining. There are security risks too, given that mineral processing is concentrated in China.

THE GREENIES ARE DESTROYING THE PLANET

The Greenies Are Destroying the Planet

Poor people in Myanmar are bearing some of the brunt of Chinese mining for American green energy.

CLIMATE CHANGE / MICHAEL SWARTZ / AUGUST 17, 2022

There’s an intriguing quote we wanted to share from a recent Associated Press exposé on mining for rare earth in Asia. We’ve talked at length about the Chinese stranglehold on the market for certain minerals, but it’s worth noting that we once did that here. As the lengthy story by Dake Kang, Victoria Milko, and Lori Hinnant notes: “The United States offshored its rare earths mining to China in the 1980s because of environmental and cost issues. China’s leader at the time, Deng Xiaoping, declared rare earths China’s answer to ‘oil in the Middle East.’ Tens of thousands of Chinese in the countryside discovered that they could make more in a month of mining than years of farming.”

That may have seemed like the end of the story, but over the last decade the Chinese have become wise to the ecological damage this mining — oftentimes done by small “mom and pop” operations — was creating in their country. So they did what any communist regime would do: paint a pretty picture of being conscious of the environment by cracking down on the small-time operators mining in their country while getting the nearby military dictatorship of Myanmar (generally known as Burma) to take the hit.

China’s loss is now Myanmar’s loss, too. Strip-mining in unlicensed private mines in the northern reaches of the nation is fouling its waterways and destroying the habitat of native plants and animals. But one longtime mine worker, who gave his last name as Guo, is a Chinese national who relocated to Myanmar after losing his mining job in China. Guo is quoted in the AP piece: “I’m only responsible for digging the mountain up and selling it. The rest is none of my business. … They talk about future generations, I’m talking about survival today. We just see if we can make money. It’s that simple.”

THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE SCAM

 The Electric Vehicle Scam

This is an article that intrigued me on an another forum. It contains some thinking that was new to me. Give it a read and see what you think.

The Electric Vehicle Scam

The utility companies have thus far had little to say about the alarming cost projections to operate electric vehicles (EVs) or the increased rates that they will be required to charge their customers. It is not just the total amount of electricity required, but the transmission lines and fast charging capacity that must be built at existing filling stations. Neither wind nor solar can support any of it. Electric vehicles will never become the mainstream of transportation!

In part 1 of our exposé on the problems with electric vehicles (EVs), we showed that they were too expensive, too unreliable, rely on materials mined in China and other unfriendly countries, and require more electricity than the nation can afford. In this second part, we address other factors that will make any sensible reader avoid EVs like the plague.

EV Charging Insanity

In order to match the 2,000 cars that a typical filling station can service in a busy 12 hours, an EV charging station would require 600, 50-watt chargers at an estimated cost of $24 million and a supply of 30 megawatts of power from the grid. That is enough to power 20,000 homes. No one likely thinks about the fact that it can take 30 minutes to 8 hours to recharge a vehicle between empty or just topping off. What are the drivers doing during that time?

ICSC-Canada board member New Zealand-based consulting engineer Bryan Leyland describes why installing electric car charging stations in a city is impractical:

REPLACING AN ELECTRIC CAR BATTERY – GOOD LUCK !!!

Florida teen learns hard lesson when electric vehicle quits: replacement battery costs more than car itself

July 18, 2022 | Todd Jaquith

A 17-year-old in Florida got a rude awakening when she found out that the replacement battery for her used electric car would cost more than the vehicle itself.

Avery Siwinski is just an average teenage girl who was thrilled when her parents coughed up the money for an $11,000 used Ford Focus electric car, a 2014 model EV with 60,000 miles on the odometer. It seemed like a great choice at the time: gas prices and inflation are skyrocketing, and driving an electric car around town was the perfect way to save on money and save the environment at the same time.

But, according to KVUE 10 News, Siwinski only had the car for six months before it started having issues. That’s when the flashing symbols started to appear on the dashboard. It’s a lot like when your phone quits on you—but in this case, it’s your car, the one you rely on to get you from place to place.

And it turns out fixing your electric car is a lot pricier than repairing an iPhone.

ROMAN BALMAKOV

We are in the village of Erbeek in the Netherlands. This is the site of one of several dozen farmers’ protests that have sprung up across the entire country. These are real grassroots protests. They’re not really coordinated and there’s no top-down structure, but they’re just springing up everywhere. They are being initiated by farmers who are seeing new government regulations that are being proposed in the parliament as something of a death sentence for their farms: between 30 percent to 50 percent of farms might actually close down if these regulations go into effect
