SENATOR RICHARD BURR, N.C. – HELP FOR STORM VICTIMS

As you are aware, devastating storms hit North Carolina last weekend causing a great degree of damage across a large part of the central and eastern regions of our state.  As I have traveled to many of the areas most affected by Saturday’s storms, I have been shocked by some of the destruction I have witnessed.  However, I remain in awe of the resilient spirit and work ethic of North Carolinians.  Communities have come together to help in clean-up and recovery efforts, and it is in trying times like these that we see the best of the human spirit shine through.  Brooke’s and my thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and families of all those affected by these storms.  My staff and I are committed to working with residents and local officials to ensure that federal assets are deployed quickly and efficiently to aid in the recovery of affected communities.
As a result of the devastation, the President has issued a major disaster declaration prompting the release of federal aid to help individuals and communities recover from the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred on Saturday.  For more information on this declaration and how to seek federal assistance, follow this link.  You can also visit my website for more information.
Have a joyous holiday weekend.

Sincerely,

U.S. Senator Richard Burr
