THE SWINGING POLITICAL PENDULUM – THE NEED TO GET INVOLVED

This is the fourth in a series of editorials designed to educate the reader on the
true facts about the current administration in Washington, and where the nation
needs to be in the future to survive and to protect individual freedoms.
In the third editorial, it was noted that this nation needs responsible conservative
and/or moderate leadership, Republican or Independent. Leadership committed
to protecting individual rights, free expression of religion, programs that help
those in need with a corresponding mandatory work program for those capable of
working at every level of government and in the private sector. More importantly,
the Republican Party needs to re-evaluate its priorities in order to bring together
all factions of the Party and independent voters in opposition to liberal
Democrats.
Thus far, it appears that Sarah Palin, who is not tied to special interests, may be
the strongest person to provide the country with effective leadership in the future.
She appears to be willing to stay out on the point, and to be sniped at by the
main stream media, as well as, the Alinsky trained radicals of the far left. It is
obvious that if she were not a real threat to the liberal left as a Vice Presidential
candidate, they would not have come after her as hard as they did. Today, the
mainstream media (both the print and electronic media) will not report on her
current activities, her speeches or her grass roots movement to swing the
pendulum back to the right. With the exception of the Fox News Cable Network,
the mainstream media will not publish any in depth stories about her and her
achievements in Alaska. No other governor in this nation today has
demonstrated the level of intestinal fortitude to rid a state of special interests and
corruption better than former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, and she did so in
just two and one-half years as Governor.
You may recall from previous editorials that there are two functions in the
country’s economic structure that are regarded as being the “untouchables”. The
national based oil companies and the Federal Reserve System. Unlike other
governors in the country, past and present, big oil did not stop Governor Palin
from going after them for the benefit of the people of Alaska and the nation.
Here are just a few of her achievements:
· Upon taking office as Governor of the State of Alaska, she immediately
waged a campaign against the corruptive practices of public officials,
kickbacks, and special interest within her own Republican Party members
in the legislature and the executive branch of the state government. Many
of these corrupt officials are now enjoying free housing and meals in
prison compliments of the State of Alaska or U.S. Department of Justice.

The Democrats thought they had found a friend in Sarah Palin, because,
as a Republican, she was cleaning up Alaskan politics, especially among
current and former Republican office holders.
· She informed the major oil companies, especially the all powerful Exxon
Corporation, that the “free lunch” in Alaska was over. Now, the oil
companies have to share their profits with the people of Alaska, and not
the corrupt state politicians. She instituted a program with the acronym
“ACES”, which redistributed the profits of the big oil companies to the state
coffers. It might serve the media’s best interests to see if the Democratic
controlled State of Louisiana with all of its off-shore oil rigs are demanding
the same for their people. History has proven that in the State of
Louisiana and the City of New Orleans under the leadership of Governor
Kathleen Blanco and Mayor Ray Nagin, they could not properly muster
state and local resources timely to protect their people from the effects of
Hurricane Katrina. But, the media was quick to put the recovery debacle
on the back of President Bush. Remember who the main stream national
media are in the scheme of things in this country. They are, individually
and collectively, the liberal information arm of the Democratic Party, and
the so called progressive majority who subscribe to Alinsky style political
philosophy.
· The main stream media should know that neither Louisiana, nor any other
big oil state, has done anything in comparison to what Governor Palin has
accomplished for the people of Alaska through the ACES Program. The
other states cry about budget deficits and expect the American taxpayer to
bail them out through their friends in Washington. The recent earmark
funding projects approved by the liberal-left in Congress makes the 1924
Tea Pot Dome scandal look like child’s play. Billions of dollars have been
or are being wasted in pork barrel allocations to special interests of
Congressional members in the so called economic recovery package.
· Governor Palin has demonstrated to the people of Alaska and the nation
that she had no use for “earmark” pork barrel federal funding, such as the
“bridge to nowhere project”. During her term of office, she eliminated 85%
of all such government funded waste projects, with all of the federal
strings attached.. She let the people of Alaska know that if they need
something built, the state will pay for it.
· Governor Palin set an example for other governors by getting rid of all of
the frills and perks enjoyed by her predecessors, including her own
security force, using that money for more important state projects.
· This “pit bull with lipstick” put together a totally new approach to getting a
natural gas pipeline built, which will be the biggest private construction
project in the history of North America, something others have tried and
failed.

· For 30 years, the Exxon Corporation held a lease to do exploratory drilling
at a place called Point Thompson in Alaska. They made excuse after
excuse why they couldn’t start drilling. The truth in fact is they were
holding those leases as an investment for the future. No governor of
Alaska during the past 30 years could make them get started. Last
summer, Governor Palin told them she was revoking their lease and
kicking them out, unless they started the exploration work at Point
Thompson. They protested and threatened court action. She took them
on, and State of Alaska won.
· President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for
electricity by the year 2025. Governor Palin went to her legislature and
submitted a plan for Alaska to be at a 50% level of renewable resources
by the year 2025. Alaska is already at the 25% level.
It has been 36 years since Saudi Arabia and other Arab oil nations, in concert
with the Exxon Corporation, imposed an oil embargo against the United States,
other industrialized nations and Third World countries creating the worse fuel
crisis in the 20th century. The crisis created gas shortages and a marked increase
in fuel prices. By the end of third quarter of 1973, Exxon’s Chairman. J.K.
Jamieson reported a 59% increase in profit for his company. One U.S. Senator,
Henry Jackson, described the contrived embargo as a “flagrant case of corporate
disloyalty to the United States government”. With the winter months at hand, the
crisis worsened, the government was forced to implement an “odd-even” day
distribution plan for motorists and a cut back in home heating fuel oil. Meanwhile
Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel filed suit in federal court demanding to know
why numerous fuel laden oil tankers were at anchor in the mouth of the
Chesapeake Bay. His suit was dismissed by the courts.
By March 1974, the embargo was lifted, but not before OPEC oil nations had
earned $100 billion during the crisis. There has been much speculation that
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger may have been the point man for the cause of
the oil embargo acting on behalf of special interests.
In November 1975, President Ford, while touring the trans-Alaskan pipeline,
observed that the project was a weapon in the fight to “liberate” the United States
from unreliable foreign oil sources. Ford cited the pipeline as proof that the
United States has “the physical resources, the economic resources, the integrity
and the national will to achieve energy independence”. He said construction of
the pipeline “has proven to be an outstanding example of how ecology can be
preserved while energy needs are met”. The production from the Alaskan oil
fields represents 10% of the nation’s oil needs, yet none of it goes exclusively to
the needs of the nation. Again, the oil companies misrepresented their original
declarations about the use of this oil and the Alaska pipeline, which cost billions
to construct.
The true mark of national leadership comes not from traveling around the world
at taxpayers’ expense for meet and greet sessions with foreign leaders, but with

the ability to bring together opposing domestic and foreign ideologies that avoids
conflict, both foreign and domestic. President Obama did not have any “foreign
policy” experience, nor did many other modern day Presidents save one,
President George H.W. Bush. The true mark of a national leader is the ability to
appoint individuals who have foreign relations and domestic policy experience;
and individuals committed to world peace coupled with a strong military posture
and protecting the American GNP. Governor Sarah Palin has demonstrated her
ability to deal with any adversary effectively, including her neighbor across the
bay – the Russians.
Can you understand now why the Democratic Party and the national main stream
media cringe at the thought of Governor Sarah Palin in the White House, and
why they try to embarrass and ridicule her at every turn? Remember, “ridicule” is
a primary tactic of the Alinsky trained crowd. Not since Ronald Reagan was
President has this nation experienced a true statesman in the White House, and
he was just an actor. Imagine what a “soccer mom” could do in Washington.
More than any time in U.S. history is it important for the average American, the
so called “Joe Six Packs” of this nation, to devote the next twelve months to
letting their voices be heard loud and clear about everything they dislike about
current and future Obama proposed legislation or executive orders. They cannot
afford to sit still for more of the nationalist-socialist agenda of President Obama,
his Alinsky – Marxist oriented staff, and the social progressives in Congress,
especially House Speaker Nancy D’Alessandro Pelosi and House Majority
Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, who will probably lose his seat in 2010
congressional elections.
Most people in this country see themselves like the “Whos” in Dr. Seuss’s
“Horton Hears A Who”, just another voice trying to be heard, but without the
financial and political power to make a difference. Too small to be seen or heard.
However, many “Whos” now believe that, “[A] person is a person no matter how
small”, and all of the voices of the small people combined together can make a
difference in this society, and in the political system. They are not instruments of
special interests, just people with a like mindset. An example of democracy in
action
With the unity of the average American to speak in one voice, the power of the
main stream national media to control the minds and hearts of the people will be
diminished. The silent majority does not have a comparable vehicle of
communications with the people of their own kind, except to a limited degree
through the Fox Cable News Network. Not only does the main stream media
attempt to control the thinking of their audience on a national level, but on a local
or regional basis they also support the elections of liberal local and state
government officials through misleading articles attacking opponents of their
candidates, publish slanted editorial and published pre-election endorsements of
candidate that share their liberal political views. However, it is during national
elections that the main stream media maximize their efforts to control elections
through misinformation, disinformation and outright lies about candidates that are
opposed to their liberal – left wing editorial philosophy. It is important to keep in

mind that main stream media television personalities you see and hear are there
because they share the liberal political views of their employers.
All of the Democrats in the House of Representatives who continue to march to
the drum of President Obama and House Speaker Pelosi need to be replaced in
2010 with responsible, preferably conservative, individuals who listen to the will
of the people. This is still supposed to be a representative form of government,
and those who seek to be the representatives of their constituents need to be
continually reminded of that fact.
Notwithstanding the obvious hue and cry from the people of this country, the
Congress, and in particular the House of Representatives under the control of
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is determined to ram down the throats of the
American people a national healthcare plan that will ultimately destroy the
nation’s healthcare insurance industry, a persons right to choose a healthcare
program, cause rationing of healthcare, impose unconscionable tax penalties on
business who resist the national plan, and a cost to the American taxpayers of
trillion of federal dollars. Once in place, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to
displace it. But this is only the beginning of the socialist agenda that President
Obama and the Congress intend to impose on the American people. The worse
may yet to come.
It is important to keep in mind the words of President Ronald Reagan twenty
years before ever seeking high public office when he said, “ “One of the
traditional methods of imposing socialism on a people has been by way of
medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian
project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests
medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.” Very prophetic words,
but he may have under estimated the will of the silent majority of this country and
their ability to exercise their Constitutional rights of freedom of expression. Nor
did he anticipate that 48 years later an administration in Washington would
propose a healthcare plan that would destroy decades of the best healthcare in
the world. Not a perfect system by any means, but one that can be fixed without
the kind of legislation proposed by Obama/Pelosi.
The Obama administration has reached a position of desperation where they will
say anything and do anything necessary to impose a British or Canadian style –
public option- healthcare program on the American people. The President’s
remarks on September 9, 2009 before a joint session of Congress attempted to
assure the American people that a not-for-profit public option approach to
healthcare will be financially self sufficient, and not compete with private
insurance companies or private cooperative healthcare programs. But it has
been documented that the federal government has never been able to manage
any program, except at a deficit, with waste, and all at the expense of the U.S.
taxpayers. But the legislation as proposed is contrary of the President’s
promises and assertions. 1 The President says not one dollar of the Medicare

Trust Fund will go to fund the new healthcare plan, except that in reality is no
such thing as the Medicare Trust Fund. Medicare and Medicaid are paid out of
the general federal treasury, as are social security benefits, although it is contrary
to the original enabling legislation on social security that was signed into law by
President Roosevelt. It is interesting to note that when the President proposed
limitations on litigation against doctors and hospitals for tort reform, neither the
Vice President, Speaker Pelosi, nor the members of Congress, who are in the
pockets of the trial lawyers, gave the President the same positive response they
had given him throughout the other aspects of his remarks. If the President had
not surrounded himself with announced Communists, social radicals, anti-
American individuals, his eloquent words at a joint session of Congress might
have been accepted and believed by the American public. But the President has
demonstrated repeatedly that he cannot be trusted. He talks the talk, but does
not walk-the-walk on healthcare reform.
In response to the President’s message to the American people, Congressman
Dr. Carl Boustany MD of Louisiana, a surgeon, admitted that there is a need for
healthcare reform, but he wants the Congressional leaders to do it right, on a bipartisan
basis, which Speaker Pelosi has continually refused to do. Dr. Boustany
noted that the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office had reported that the
Obama/Pelosi healthcare plan will create 53 new bureaucratic agencies and cuts
Medicare by $500 billion. These are the uncontroverted facts from professional
fiscal experts, not self serving politicians. Republicans want all individuals to
have coverage without regard to pre-existing conditions, as well as, having a
program for wellness care. Dr. Boustany also said that families should have the
right to buy health insurance across state lines, but the President rejects this
proposal. This would give all healthcare insurance companies doing business in
the United States the right to go into any state to register their plans and rate
without the blessing of the state political structure. Today, in most states, only
those companies that contribute to the campaigns of state officeholders get the
right to sell their ware in that state. 2
Therefore, the question is: Are you prepared to get involved? Are you prepared
to “kick the liberal rascals out” of Congress? Your future and the future of your
children and grandchild depends on what you do or fail to do to fight encroaching
socialism in this country. The time to act is now in order to swing the pendulum
back to the right where it rightfully belongs. Go In Your Power and Save Your
Country.
