OIL SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN

Wednesday, May 1st, 2024

Let’s not forget that President Trump put very successful  heavy economic oil sanctions on Iran and Biden does not enforce those sanctions.  All you need to do is look at the upheaval in the Middle East now because of Biden’s weak policy towards Iran.  Despots only respect one thing – power that is used against them !    Nancy

Will the West Get Ever Serious about Sanctions on Iran?

by Con Coughlin

 EXCERPT FROM THIS ARTICLE

A key factor in the reluctance of Western leaders to punish Iran for its aggression is the appeasement policy the Biden administration has pursued towards Iran in recent years in the naive hope that, by going easy on Iran, the Iranian regime might be persuaded to agree to a new deal on its nuclear activities.

US President Joe Biden’s desperation to strike a new deal with Tehran even led to him award a sanctions waiver to Iran granting the regime access to $10 billion, money that critics argue is being used to fund Iran’s terrorist network throughout the Middle East.

  • [D]espite the clear and present threat Iran poses to the security of both the Middle East and the wider world, Western governments are still proving reluctant to take any measures needed to cripple the Iranian economy.
  • A key factor in the reluctance of Western leaders to punish Iran for its aggression is the appeasement policy the Biden administration has pursued towards Iran in recent years in the naive hope that, by going easy on Iran, the Iranian regime might be persuaded to agree to a new deal on its nuclear activities.
  • “The Iranians have mastered the art of sanctions circumvention. If the Biden administration is really going to have an impact, it has to shift the focus to China.” — Fernando Ferreira, head of geopolitical risk service at the Rapidan Energy Group, Financial Times, April 17, 2024.
  • If the West is really serious about holding Iran to account for its aggressive activities, then it… should include the possibility of imposing secondary sanctions against any country that continues to do business with Tehran in defiance of Western sanctions.

INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT

Sunday, April 28th, 2024

Douglas Murray, author of this article, warned about the International Criminal Court on Saturday night’s Life, Liberty & Levin show    Nancy

International Criminal Court’s vicious smear tactics against America’s allies

Opinion by Douglas Murray

In the next few days, something unprecedented is going to be attempted.

A British prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague called Karim Khan is going to try to bring a war-crimes case against an American ally.

Specifically, Khan wants to bring individual cases against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and a head of the Israeli army, most likely the chief of the general staff.

If this happens, it will throw kerosene onto the already flammable international situation.

And further ignite things here at home.

All those expensively educated know-nothings currently hunting down Jews on American campuses will imagine they have even more license to do so.

It will encourage all the antisemites who have crawled out of the sewers in recent months.

And it will be a grotesque smear and slander against the state of Israel.

Netanyahu is a democratically elected leader.

Gallant and the leadership of the IDF lead a citizens army.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON- IS THE GREAT ILLUSION IN RUINS?

Is The Great Illusion In Ruins?

73 Comments April 8, 2024

Victor Davis Hanson
American Greatness

In 2021, Joe Biden was elected after a bitterly fought campaign that deposed the incumbent Donald Trump. Democrats eventually captured, for a time, both the House and Senate, ensuring the most left-wing government in modern American history.

Americans were then set to witness a great experiment. For the first time in their lives, a truly radical socialist program would supposedly fundamentally transform the way America dealt with the border, immigration, the economy, race relations, foreign policy, energy, law enforcement, crime, education, and social questions such as religion, gender, abortion, and schooling.

In a sense, we were all to be lab rats of sorts, to be experimented on by the radical left and their various critical theories. Now in the last year of the Biden term, we can see the results of that experiment—and the unfortunate disasters that followed.

But first, how was such a radical move to the left even possible in a center-right America?

The Democratic nominee, Biden, had earlier united the left, but only through a Faustian deal. The handlers of a nearly non compos mentis Biden had ushered all his 2020 primary rivals out of the primary races in unison.

But in exchange for their exits that ensured Biden the nomination, the left took over his general campaign—in which Biden was virtually relegated to his basement—and then set his agenda.

Who was running things?

The mysterious architects of White House ideology included, inter alia, the omnipresent, now-Washington-DC-dwelling Obamas, the old socialist gadfly Bernie Sanders, the fossilized tribunes of the black and Latino congressional caucuses, the DEI firebrand Squad, and the neo-socialist scold Elizabeth Warren.

As a result, for one of the few times in American history, the hard left now had undreamt of power. And it was enhanced by a chorus in our compliant media, academia, corporations, the administrative state, foundations, entertainment, and popular culture.

BIDEN BLOCKS TRUMP FROM FIRING BUREAUCRATS

Biden moves to block Trump, future presidents from firing bureaucrats

By Stephen Dinan  The Washington Times  Thursday, April 4, 2024

President Biden finalized new civil service protections on Thursday aimed at preventing the sort of bureaucratic housecleaning that former President Donald Trump plans, should he win reelection.

At stake are potentially tens of thousands of policymaking jobs across the government and the ability to have them follow the president’s direction or face firing.

That has become a top goal of Republicans after the deep state thwarted or watered down many of Mr. Trump’s initiatives. It also has become a chief fear of Democrats.

Mr. Biden said his rules would insulate employees from such political pressure by making it tougher to reclassify their jobs and then fire them.

“Day in and day out, career civil servants provide the expertise and continuity necessary for our democracy to function,” Mr. Biden said. “This rule is a step toward combatting corruption and partisan interference to ensure civil servants are able to focus on the most important task at hand: delivering for the American people.”

The rules shield federal workers from losing civil service protections if they are involuntarily moved into job classifications that lack those protections. The rules also create an appeals process for workers who are shifted.

The target is indisputably Mr. Trump, who issued an executive order late in his administration that could have allowed thousands of career civil service positions to be reclassified, making it easier to fire workers.

Mr. Trump said removing “poorly performing employees” who fell under civil service protections had become too difficult, so reclassifying them was a way to get better results from the bureaucracy.

Known as Schedule F, the order was aimed at positions that create policy. Trump officials said those jobs ought to be responsive to the president.

The National Treasury Employees Union, a major public-sector labor union that sued to block Schedule F, said it could have swept up “tens of thousands of frontline federal employees.”

Mr. Biden revoked Schedule F when he took office, derailing the lawsuit.

Mr. Trump has been eyeing a revival should he win the White House in November.

The new rule, finalized Thursday by the Office of Personnel Management, will make it tougher for Mr. Trump or another administration, but not impossible, to surmount.

To overcome a regulation, a president must either go through the rulemaking process again, which can take months or years, or persuade Congress to pass legislation.

James Sherk, who led the Trump administration’s civil service efforts, said the new regulations will be a speed bump but not a roadblock. He said the chief wrinkle is that writing the rules could give Mr. Trump’s opponents more room for court challenges to a policy.

Mr. Sherk said federal employees have long leaned to the left but appear to have skewed hard left since the Obama years, based on campaign donation data.

“In most agencies, the career employees are more liberal than 90% of Americans,” he said.

He released a report, “Tales From the Swamp,” highlighting areas where Trump plans were thwarted by the liberal ideological bent of bureaucrats.

Among them:
