“Mom, this journal prompt is weird,” my son told me one afternoon in November 2019. He was a fourth-grade student at a private Montessori School. The students wrote weekly journal entries inspired by assigned articles to practice writing. “It’s kind of scary. Can you read it?” he asked me.
“Sure,” I answered.
He passed me the handout entitled, “Thanksgiving: A Native American View,” by Jacqueline Keeler. The commentary began with the author’s conflicted emotions about Thanksgiving in light of her American Indian ancestry. It quickly devolved into a threatening diatribe against Europeans: “I see, in the ‘First Thanksgiving’ a hidden Pilgrim heart…. We have seen the evil that it caused in the 350 years since. Genocide, environmental disasters, poverty, world wars, racism.” She asked, “Where is the hero who will destroy that heart of evil?”
I never imagined my 10-year-old would be charged to “destroy the heart in order to stop the evil” in elementary school lessons.
According to a school administrator, the “heart of evil” homework originated from national American Montessori Society curricula. Around the same time, diversity resources appeared on the school website, one being Learning for Justice from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

10 Woke Offenders: These Companies Push Radical Left Agenda, Fire Conservative Staff

A new database can help conservative consumers identify which companies actively work to promote leftist ideology and, in some cases, fire conservatives.
The 1792 Exchange, a nonprofit focused on the dangers of “woke capitalism” that urges companies to be neutral on ideological issues, last month released a database of over 1,000 companies.
The database assesses the risk that “a company will cancel a contract or client, or boycott, divest, or deny services based on views or beliefs,” the 1792 Exchange says.
At a time when the culture wars increasingly are being fought, not just in Washington and state capitols but in boardrooms across the country, it’s a welcome development to have a resource to help determine whether your dollars are supporting companies that are neutral or companies that are working against you and your beliefs.

The IRS has spent $10 million on firearms, ammunition, and “military-style gear” since 2020, the New York Post said on May 2, citing an Open the Books report.
Open the Books specified some of the purchases the IRS has made since 2020:
$2.3 million on duty ammunition
$1.2 million on ballistic shields, plus another $1.3 million on ‘various other gear for criminal investigation agents” – very non-transparent description
$474,000 on Smith & Wesson rifles
$467,000 on duty tactical lighting
$463,000 on Baretta 1301 tactical shotguns
$354,000 on tactical gear bags
$267,000 on ballistic helmets
$243,000 on body armor vests

When Danny Werfel first appeared before Congress after the IRS scandal, he told them all the right things.
 “It’s completely inexcusable,” the new acting IRS commissioner reassured members of the House Appropriations Committee. “This important agency is founded on the principle of operating impartially, and we failed in that most basic core principle.”
“The agency stands ready to confront the problems that occurred, hold accountable those who acted inappropriately, be open about what happened, and permanently fix these problems so that such missteps do not occur again.”
In the wake of the revelation that the IRS had targeted conservative nonprofits, there was a lot of outrage and the Obama administration sent in Werfel to clean house. He condemned Lois Lerner, the key figure and arguably the scapegoat for the IRS operation targeting conservatives, and claimed to be very upset that this sort of thing had been going on..
“We have to get to the bottom of it,” Werfel told Congress. “We will uncover every fact . . . I’m like everybody else. I’m frustrated, too.”
Anyone who seriously believed that the Obama administration was going to appoint anyone to head the IRS who would actually get to the bottom of things or uncover every fact was swiftly disabused of that naivete when Werfel released a report later that month covering it all up.
According to the report there was no targeting of conservatives.
