EQUALITY ACT – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Friday, June 21st, 2019
At the bottom of the email is the contact information for our senators  in the U.S. Senate who will be voting on this bill.  Make your opinions regarding this bill  known to our senators !   Nancy

“The Equality Act” sounds like a great bill. Who would be against equality? But, it’s not really about equality.

The Equality Act is really about using the full weight of the federal government to impose the ever-evolving sexual revolution on the American people, under threat of punishment or loss of federal funds.

Rather than allow a national debate on the issues of human sexuality and gender, the Act shuts down the debate and, in essence, labels as bigots those who will not bow the knee to the sexual revolution.

As Andrew Walker writes, “For progressives, the Equality Act is the rallying cry that would forever cement the legitimacy of sexual-revolution ethics into federal law.”

So What is the Equality Act?

The Equality Act— to be introduced by House Democrats in Congress—adds “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the list of protected classes under the 1964 Civil Rights Act.  This means that almost no area of American public life—including education, employment, public accommodation, housing, medical care, non-profits, and federal funding for example—will be left untouched.

Obviously, invidious discrimination is wrong, but that is not what the Equality Act is addressing. Americans are not being denied employment, housing, or public accommodations because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Rather, these types of laws have been used throughout the country to punish those that believe that marriage is only between one man and one woman, and believe that there are only two genders, male and female, both rooted in biology.

Some Problems with the Equality Act:

1. It threatens the fundamental freedoms of speech and religion

    • It could force faith-based charities, non-profits, and schools to operate contrary to their religious beliefs concerning human sexuality, or risk punishment or loss of federal funding.
    • Creative professionals— especially in the wedding industry— could be compelled to communicate messages about marriage that violate their conscience or be forced out of the wedding industry altogether.
    • In the language of the bill, it overrides the religious protections found in the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This means that when alleged cases of discrimination involve religious beliefs, religious freedom loses.
    • It would force faith-based foster care and adoption agencies to shut down or change their policy of only placing children with a married husband and wife.

In the mainstream media, women on the left are almost always portrayed as paragons of compassion and virtue. But when it comes to conservative women, it’s a different story. Why is this?  Heather Higgins, chairman of Independent Women’s Forum and CEO of Independent Women’s Voice, explains the reasons behind the double standard.

TRACKING SAUDI ARABIAN WOMEN BY THEIR MUSLIM MEN

Saturday, April 27th, 2019

Why aren’t the liberal women of America marching to protest this treatment of women in Saudi Arabia  ?  Nancy

Apple and Google accused of helping ‘enforce gender apartheid’ by hosting Saudi government app that tracks women and stops them leaving the country

  • Apple and Google have been criticized by rights groups for hosting Absher, an app which allows men in Saudi Arabia to track and control where women travel.
  • Absher is a Saudi government website, which INSIDER reported on at length last week. It is available on Google Play and iTunes, and has been downloaded more than one million times.
  • Under Saudi law, every woman has a legal “guardian” who can restrict her travel to specific airports and routes, and get automated alerts when they cross borders.
  • Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and a women’s rights activist told INSIDER that Apple and Google should reconsider hosting the app.
  • Yasmine Mohammed, a critic of Saudi Arabia, said: “There’s a definite tragedy in the world’s most technologically progressive platforms, Apple and Google, facilitating the most archaic misogyny.”
  • Neither Apple nor Google responded to repeated requests for comment.
  • Read INSIDER’s full report on Absher here.

Apple and Google have been accused of helping to “enforce gender apartheid” in Saudi Arabia, by offering a sinister app which allows men to track women and stop them leaving the country.

Both Google Play and iTunes host Absher, a government web service which allows men to specify when and how women can cross Saudi borders, and to get close to real-time SMS updates when they travel.

Absher also has benign functions — like paying parking fines — but its travel features have been identified by activists and refugees as a major factor in the continued difficulty women have leaving Saudi Arabia.

MARXIST FEMINISM’S RUINED LIVES

Tuesday, March 26th, 2019

This article was written in 2014 but is even more relevant today as we can plainly see how  the seeds of destructive feminism are now in full bloom   One very glaring example is the extreme late term abortion bills that were just passed and celebrated in several states by Democrats.
Thanks to Frank  Roche for sharing this article with us.  Nancy

It’s completely woven throughout the fabric of The Democratic Party. It’s not the Dems of your grandfathers….not by a very long shot! It’s been entirely taken over by the radical Marxist Left which is made up of ideals and ideas which could not be more antipathetic to everything for which America stands. Period. We’ve been invaded from within. Our largest and deadliest Trojan Horses are the Universities. We did not win the Cold War. We’ve been snookered by clever operators. They took over our children and our media and that was that!

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”  Winston Churchill wrote this over a century ago.

During my junior year in high school, the nuns asked about our plans for after we graduated. When I said I was going to attend State University, I noticed their disappointment.  I asked my favorite nun, “Why?” She answered, “That means you’ll leave four years later a communist and an atheist!”

What a giggle we girls had over that. “How ridiculously unsophisticated these nuns are,” we thought. Then I went to the university and four years later walked out a communist and an atheist, just as my sister Katie had six years before me.

Sometime later, I was a young divorcee with a small child. At the urging of my sister, I relocated to NYC after spending years married to an American executive stationed in Southeast Asia. The marriage over, I was making a new life for my daughter and me.  Katie said, “Come to New York.  We’re making revolution! Some of us are starting the National Organization of Women and you can be part of it.”

I hadn’t seen her for years.  Although she had tormented me when we were youngsters, those memories were faint after my Asian traumas and the break-up of my marriage.  I foolishly mistook her for sanctuary in a storm. With so much time and distance between us, I had forgotten her emotional instability.

And so began my period as an unwitting witness to history. I stayed with Kate and her lovable Japanese husband, Fumio, in a dilapidated loft on The Bowery as she finished her first book, a PhD thesis for Columbia University, “Sexual Politics.”

It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a “consciousness-raising-group,” a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China.  We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:

“Why are we here today?” she asked.
    “To make revolution,” they answered.
“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
    “The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
    “By taking away his power!”
    “How do we do that?”
    “By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.
    “How can we destroy monogamy?”

Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears.  Was I on planet earth?  Who were these people?

“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.
