Justice Officials Sent Talking Points to FBI on Lynch Tarmac Meeting With Bill Clinton

Flurry of emails between Justice, FBI and White House came just days before Comey cleared Hillary Clinton in email scandal

One of former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s top lawyers at the Justice Department helped edit Obama administration press statements about the infamous meeting between Lynch and Bill Clinton on a tarmac last summer.

The same attorney, Paige Herwig, is now the deputy general counsel for Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee. That panel is now investigating whether Lynch played any role in trying to influence the scope or intensity of the FBI’s investigation into the Hillary Clinton email scandal.

Prior to her legal work with Lynch at Justice, Herwig was a special assistant and associate counsel to President Obama.

Newly released Justice Department emails show that Herwig, whose title was counselor to the attorney general at the time, helped edit the first media statement responding to inquiries about the tarmac meeting. Those emails were included in 413 pages of Justice Department documents the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

The emails show that on June 29, 2016, two days after the Clinton-Lynch meeting when the national news media was first learning of the tarmac one-on-one, Melanie Newman, the then-director of public affairs at the Justice Department, emailed her FBI counterpart to “flag” the media stories about the tarmac meeting that she noted were “gaining traction tonight.”

Newman included a transcript of a question Lynch answered about the meeting the following day, as well as Justice Department talking points on the topic, which are redacted in the emails.

JUDICIAL WATCH : JUSTICE DEPTARMENT BLACKS OUT TALKING POINTS ON CLINTON/LYNCH TARMAC CAPER

Friday, August 4th, 2017

Where is the team of lawyers and a grand jury being set up to investigate this ? Thanks to Judicial Watch for persevering  in using a FOIA lawsuit to g

et the Justice Dept documents on the Bill Clinton/Loretta Lynch tarmac caper !

Avoiding   FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) was the reason Hillary used a private server.  If she had used the government server for her government communications as she was required to do, all her communications would be available to a FOIA request.  How she got away with deleting by bleachbit her 33,000 emails  would be an ideal investigation for another special counsel and grand jury .     Let the games begin !!!     Nancy

Judicial Watch: Justice Department Blacks Out Talking Points on Lynch-Clinton Tarmac Meeting

AUGUST 02, 2017

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today announced that the Justice Department refuses to disclose the talking points developed by the Obama Justice Department to help it respond to press inquiries about the controversial June 27, 2016, tarmac meeting between Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The Justice Department heavily redacted the documents under Exemption b (5), which allows agencies to withhold draft or deliberative process material.  The blacked-out material centers around talking points drafted and used by Justice to respond to press inquiries about the Lynch-Clinton meeting.

The agency produced 417 pages of documents in response to Judicial Watch’s FOIA lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:17-cv-00421) seeking:

  • All records and/or transcripts of a meeting held between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton in June 2016.
  • All records of communication sent to or from officials in the Office of the Attorney General regarding the meeting held between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton in June 2016.
  • All records of communication sent to or from officials in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General regarding the meeting held between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton in June 2016.
  • All references to the meeting held between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former President Bill Clinton contained in day planners, calendars and schedules in the Office of the Attorney General.

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ’S IT AIDE ARRESTED AT AIRPORT

Wasserman Schultz’s IT Aide Arrested At Airport After Transferring $300k To Pakistan From House Office

Luke Rosiak  Investigative Reporter   July 25, 2017

Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s top information technology (IT) aide was arrested Monday attempting to board a flight to Pakistan after wiring $283,000 from the Congressional Federal Credit Union to that country.

He attempted to leave the country hours after The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group revealed that he is the target of an FBI investigation, and the FBI apprehended him at the airport.

Credit union officials permitted the wire to go through, and his wife has already fled the country to Pakistan, after police confronted her at the airport and found $12,000 in cash hidden in her suitcase but did not stop her from boarding, court documents show.

“On January 18, 2017 at 12:09 pm, an international wire transfer request form was submitted [at the Congressional Federal Credit Union] at the Longworth House Office Building in the District of Columbia, in the amount of $283,000.00, to two individuals in Faisalabad, Pakistan,” according to an affidavit obtained by TheDCNF.

Imran Awan, a Pakistani-born IT aide, had access to all emails and files of dozens of members of Congress, as well as the password to the iPad that Wasserman Schultz used for Democratic National Committee business before she resigned as its head in July 2016.

VIDEO – GINGRICH: MUELLER’S LAW FIRM GAVE 99.81% OF THEIR DONATIONS TO HILLARY

Saturday, July 22nd, 2017

You  would think Mueller would at least try to give the appearance of neutrality when choosing his team of attorneys. This is Washington, though, and there is such deep seated and  irrational hatred of Trump that Mueller  must not seem to think he and his team of attorneys   need to appear neutral.
If this investigation does turn into a dangerous witch hunt, we grassroots Trump supporters  will have to stand up and make our voices heard in support of Trump at  the local and national level     Get your homemade signs of support ready !!!      Nancy  P.S.  Click on  link to view the video

Gingrich: Mueller’s Law Firm ‘Gave 99.81% of Its Donations to Hillary Clinton’

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich thinks something is fishy with Robert Mueller’s investigation into President Trump’s Russia ties. On the same day that Mueller asked the White House to preserve all documents pertaining to Don Jr.’s Russian lawyer meeting, Gingrich alleged that there are major conflicts of interest at play here. He told Fox News, “The law firm he comes from gave 99.81 percent of its donations to Hillary Clinton last year.” And he said this seems like, “a deliberate effort to go after the president and the president’s team.”

McCabe’s FBI Hosts Gay Pride Summit

by Cliff Kincaid on June 21, 2017

The FBI may not be able to detect and prevent left-wing violence directed at Republicans playing baseball. But it sure knows how to pander to and entertain the LGBTQ community with a full-blown conference featuring discussions about the oppressive “identity hierarchy.”

In an amazing development, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, whose wife ran with Hillary’s support for the state senate in Virginia, has now put the entire FBI apparatus at the disposal of a key Democratic Party constituency group, the LGBTQ lobby, with “Q” meaning queer.

It is a direct affront to the conservative Christians who voted for President Donald Trump.

McCabe welcomed the homosexuals, transgenders, and others in Bonaparte Auditorium at FBI headquarters, an Office of Director of National Intelligence press release said.

ROBERT MUELLER’S MISSION

Monday, June 19th, 2017

Robert Mueller’s Mission

The special counsel needs to rise above his Comey loyalties.

That didn’t take long. Barely a week after James Comey admitted leaking a memo to tee up a special counsel against Donald Trump, multiple news reports based on leaks confirm that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the President for obstruction of justice. You don’t have to be a Trump partisan to have concerns about where all of this headed.

President Trump has reportedly stepped back this week from his temptation to fire Mr. Mueller, and that’s the right decision. The chief executive has the constitutional power to fire a special counsel through the chain of command at the Justice Department, but doing so would be a political debacle by suggesting he has something to hide.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mr. Mueller, would surely resign, and other officials might resign as well until someone at Justice fulfilled Mr. Trump’s orders. The President’s opponents would think it’s Christmas. The dismissal would put the President’s political allies in a terrible spot and further distract from what are make-or-break months for his agenda on Capitol Hill. His tweets attacking the probe are also counterproductive, but by now we know he won’t stop.

There are nonetheless good reasons to raise questions about Mr. Mueller’s investigation, and those concerns are growing as we learn more about his close ties to Mr. Comey, some of his previous behavior, and the people he has hired for his special counsel staff. The country needs a fair investigation of the facts, not a vendetta to take down Mr. Trump or vindicate the tribe of career prosecutors and FBI agents to which Messrs. Mueller and Comey belong.

WHAT TRUMP HAS TO FEAR FROM MUELLER

What Trump Has to Fear From Mueller

Special counsels can run amok. One went after me once for the crime of forgetfulness.

by Karl Rove     June 15, 2017

While Jeff Sessions was testifying Tuesday on Capitol Hill, Sen. Ron Wyden suggested that the attorney general had recused himself from investigating Russian electoral meddling because of unknown, “problematic” reasons. “There are none—I can tell you that for absolute certainty,” Mr. Sessions shot back, dismissing the supercilious charge as “secret innuendo.”

Good for Mr. Sessions. But since Democrats seem intent on preparing the battlefield for the 2018 midterm elections, expect more such baseless charges. Never mind the damage they do to public trust.

Consider the accusation that President Trump obstructed justice in the FBI investigation of former national security adviser Mike Flynn. According to former FBI Director James Comey, the president told him: “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go.”

“There’s no question he abused power,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said last week. Two Democratic backbenchers, Reps. Al Green of Texas and Brad Sherman of California, have even drafted articles of impeachment based on the charge.

But I talked to four legal experts—two former Justice Department officials, a former White House lawyer and a former U.S. attorney—who all agreed Mr. Trump has the rightful power, as head of the executive branch, to order the FBI to end any investigation.

One expert raised this thought experiment: If President John F. Kennedy had ordered FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to stop investigating Martin Luther King Jr., would that have constituted obstruction of justice?

JAMES COMEY HAS A LONG HISTORY OF QUESTIONABLE OBSTRUCTION CASES

James Comey Has A Long History Of Questionable Obstruction Cases

From Martha Stewart to Frank Quattrone to Steven Hatfill, former FBI director James Comey has left a long trail of highly questionable obstruction of justice cases that he used to make a name for himself.
Mollie Hemingway

By Mollie Hemingway

Following countdown clocks on cable outlets and dramatic claims in the media about what devastating testimony to expect, James Comey sat down before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week. The hearing ended up being a bit of a let-down for critics of President Trump who hoped to get him impeached (or removed via the 25th amendment!) as soon as possible. Comey admitted that Donald Trump had told the truth when he wrote that the former FBI director had thrice told him he was not under investigation in the Russia meddling probe. Comey admitted that Trump had twice encouraged him to get to the bottom of the Russian meddling issue.

But the media chose to run with a dramatically different narrative. That narrative was if James Comey had not proven obstruction, he came pretty darn close.

“Is Trump Guilty Of Obstruction Of Justice? Comey Laid Out The Case,” was the big takeaway from NPR’s Domenico Montanaro.

“Comey Bluntly Raises Possibility of Trump Obstruction and Condemns His ‘Lies’,”exulted the New York Times, describing his testimony as “a blunt, plain-spoken assessment” by a man who was “humble, folksy and matter-of-fact.”

The New Yorker was even more breathless. “Comey’s Revenge: Measuring Obstruction,”wrote Evan Osnos. “[T]his was not a political partisan tossing off a criticism of a rival; this was a career prosecutor, who served Republican and Democratic Presidents, presenting a time line of specific statements from the President that he described as either untrue or potentially criminal.”

MSNBC agreed. And I watched an hour of CNN the night of the hearing with the sober legal analysis of Jeffrey Toobin, who declared repeatedly that he’d never seen such obstruction of justice in the history of the world. I’m only slightly exaggerating.
