PHOTOS – ICON LECTURE – DR. MIKE ADAMS, PhD, CULTURAL MARXISM IN OUR UNIVERSITIES

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Professor Mike Adams, PhD, UNC Wilmington, was the guest speaker at ICON Lectures on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.  The subject of his talk was the detrimental roles of Cultural Marxism campus-wide in the erosion of conservative values and the suppression of Constitutional rights, particularly concerning free speech.  Some of the issues he discussed included  campus safe spaces and hot  spots, trigger warnings, same-sex marriage, reverse discrimination and political correctness.
Dr. Adams is Professor of Sociology and Criminology at UNC Wilmington and was awarded Professor of the Year for both 1998 and 2000.  His promotion was initially denied based on the university’s denouncement of his politically “incorrect” writings.  The US Court of Appeals found he had been illegally retaliated against, and ordered restitution.
A video of Dr. Adam’s talk will be posted on the ICON website in about a week for those of you who were unable to attend the lecture or who live outside our immediate area.    www.iconlectureseries.com

PHOTOS – POLITICAL CORRECTNESS – DIANA WEST – ICON LECTURES

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

Diana West, author of “Death of the Grownup” and “American Betrayal” was the guest speaker at ICON’s event on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.  Political Correctness was the subject of her talk – What It Is, Where It Comes From and Why It Matters.  Diana referred to her research for  her book, “American Betrayal”  which documented  how Communists infiltrated  our government during the Roosevelt administration of the 1940’s.  Her further research has turned up evidence that the Marxists were actually actively working in this country as early as 1905.  During the 1930’s a group of Marxist professors from the Frankfurt School in Germany came to America and  established themselves first  at Columbia University and  then methodically started to spread their Cultural Marxism ideology within our university system.  By using  “Political Correctness”,  they were able to  silence those who opposed the stealth  attack on our traditional core  values which was designed to weaken our society from within.
Through a news article about Diana’s talk, a coalition of Far Left groups organized a protest of Diana West  and made charges of “hate speech” .  When the Far Left feels threatened by the facts, they call it “hate speech”.  The protest  ended quietly but photos of some of their protest signs are at the end of the photos from the lecture.  There is also a photo of our  friend, Lee Green, holding up her sign as a counter protest to support free speech.
A video of Diana’s talk  will be posted on our website – www.iconlectureseries.com in the next week so you will be able to listen to  Diana’s West’s  fascinating presentation.   You will not hear this subject matter being discussed anywhere else  in the media !
This was our last event of 2016 but 2017 is going to be an exciting year with our first speaker being Mike Adams, PHD, speaking on March 7, 2017, on “How U.S. Campuses Incubate and Enforce Cultural Marxism by using safe spaces  and speech codes.
ICON’S lectures for the rest of 2017 are April 25 – “Slow Death:  Assessing America’s War on Terrorism”.     May 23 – “Impact of Mass Migration into the U.S.”   Sept 12 – “The Real Story on Climate Change” and October 17  “The Growing National Threat from Iran”
Season tickets for 2017  are now available online at www.iconlectureseries.com along with a description of our five speakers that are already booked for 2017 !
Hope you enjoy the following photos that were taken at the event.   Nancy

THE LUNACY OF THE LEFT, EMBRACING DICTATORS

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

Stephen Moore will be the guest speaker at ICON on September 13, 2016 in Chapel Hill, NC.

The lunacy of the left, Embracing Dictators

It ranges from embracing dictators to the candidates they choose
– – Sunday, April 3, 2016
The idea of American exceptionalism has been embedded in our DNA for generations. It is the faith-based belief that, as Ronald Reagan put it, America is a “shining city on a hill.” Do modern liberals believe that?
I almost never try to get into the other side’s head or ascribe ill motives to those on the left. They are, I’ve always believed, misguided, not malign.
But I’m having second thoughts after listening to President Obama’s defense of communism/socialism a little over a week ago when he was in Argentina. He advised young people to get behind “what works” economically — as if there is some deep mystery here. Mr. Obama didn’t misspeak. The modern left in America really has come to believe that communism, socialism, Marxism, totalitarianism, or whatever “ism” you want to call the monopolization of power into the hands of a ruling elite, is superior to free market capitalism.
The president of the United States is supposed to be the global spokesman for free enterprise. But instead of traveling to Cuba to point out to the world the decades of stagnation, deprivation, and dehumanization at the hands of Castro, and instead of using this moment in history to showcase the triumph of capitalism 90 miles away, as Mr. Reagan did so memorably at Moscow State University, Mr. Obama praises Castro’s health care and education systems.

EMP THREAT – REAL AND GROWING – ICON LECTURE

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

Please scroll down to read the U.S. News & World Report article entitled “

The  EMP Threat is Real and Growing” which discusses a possibly catastrophic threat to this country that  very few people are aware of.

To inform the public on this possible disaster, ICON Lectures will be presenting James Jay Carafano, PhD, who will be speaking on “The EMP Threat” on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 7 pm at Extraordinary Ventures, 200 South Elliott Road, Chapel Hill.  Dr. Carafano is a leading expert in national security and foreign policy challenges and is the Heritage Foundation’s Vice President and is responsible for Heritage’s entire defense and foreign policy team.    He is also a 25-year Army veteran with a doctorate from Georgetown University and is also a West Point graduate.
Tickets for this exceptional lecture can be obtained at www.iconlectureseries.com

The EMP Threat Is Real and Growing

Building defenses against the electromagnetic threat has never been more urgent – or more doable.

A row of power lines at sunset.

We must harden our infrastructure to withstand electromagnetic threats.
By and Oct. 1, 2015, at 8:00 a.m.+ More

Ongoing crises make it difficult for policymakers to devote sufficient attention to electromagnetic threats, which are less prominent but potentially catastrophic. Events that reflect our growing vulnerability to these threats often slip quickly from the front page, as did the cyberattack against Sony Pictures. Others, such as solar storms across Alaska in March and the accidental power station explosion in April that left Washington, D.C. in the dark, go mostly unnoticed. And even events that dominate headlines, like the Iran nuclear agreement, don’t tell the whole story about electromagnetic threats. As a nuclear threshold state, Iran may quickly race to build a bomb that could be used to conduct a devastating electromagnetic attack against the United States.

REFUGEE TSUNAMI – CIVILIZATIONAL JIHAD

Sunday, April 3rd, 2016

The Refugee Migration  Resettlement Crisis is definitely a very hot  topic in this election.  This  article by Monica Crowley gets to the very heart of the problem and why the West needs to be aware of Hijra which is a core part of Islam’s jihad that involves Islamic conquest through migration.

Because of the importance of this issue, ICON Lectures is presenting a talk on The Refugee Resettlement Migration Crisis on Tuesday, April 5 in Chapel Hill at 200 S. Elliott Road at 7 pm.  Mr. James Simpson, a noted authority on this issue and an investigative journalist will be the guest speaker.  For more details and to obtain your ticket online, please go to www.iconlectureseries.com

It’s the civilizational jihad, stupid

By Monica Crowley – The Washington Times – Wednesday, March 23, 2016 Online Opinion Editor — Monica Crowley, a host and political and foreign affairs analyst for the Fox News Channel and host of the nationally syndicated radio program, “The Monica Crowley Show,” oversees all opinion content appearing on Washingtontimes.com and writes original content for The Washington Times. A regular panelist on “The McLaughlin Group” and an anchor on MSNBC, Ms. Crowley authored of The New York Times’ bestseller, “What The (Bleep) Just Happened? The Happy Warrior’s Guide to the Great American Comeback.” She served as Foreign Policy Assistant to former President Richard Nixon and wrote two bestsellers about her experiences. Ms. Crowley has also written for The New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, and the New York Post in addition to lecturing at Yale, Columbia, and MIT.
EXCERPT FROM THIS ARTICLE:  Hijra is a core part of jihad going back to the Prophet Muhammad that involves Islamic conquest through migration. The objective is to overwhelm non-Muslim territories with Muslim populations until they achieve domination through sheer numbers. No weapons necessary — until they gain enough control.
For decades, the author Bat Ye’or has written extensively on Islam and dhimmitude (enslavement of the infidel by Muslim overlords who force them to “accept a condition of humiliation”). Her seminal work, “Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis,” described — in 1985 — the deliberate Islamization of the continent with the encouragement of European leaders who desired cheap labor
Like every other civilized human being, I was horrified by the Islamic State terror attacks that rocked Brussels this week, killing and wounding dozens of people.
But pardon me if I’m unmoved by the latest flurry of outrage and condemnation that has predictably followed.
We’ve heard it all before: the pronouncements about being “at war,” calls for “solidarity,” the feel-good, meaningless hashtags and sad cartoons and signs saying “terrorists never win.”
Spare me the self-indulgent claptrap.
Terrorists do win. They are winning — because for all of the gnashing of teeth we get after each attack, the West does nothing meaningful to stop it. And by “stop it,” I don’t just mean acting militarily to halt violent jihad. I mean stopping every aspect of the civilizational jihad being waged against the West.
Unless and until we are willing to fight this war the way it must be fought, please quit the crocodile tears and pointless hashtags that accomplish nothing except make their re-tweeters appear “sensitive.”
Really fighting this war means acknowledging some hard truths. Islam is no mere religion. It is an all-encompassing ideological system that dictates everything from law (Shariah) to personal relationships which also have religious elements. Conquest and subjugation of the infidel lands are integral to this totalitarian ideology, by the sword, if necessary.
